A solarium is a specially equipped place for dosed irradiation. The first tanning lamps were produced in 1975, and the fashion for tanning came from Coco Chanel.
Each of us dreams of living beautifully and comfortably. But in our country, the culture of leisure began to take shape quite recently, even young people today, as a result, are often at the mercy of patterns, clichés and delusions. This also applies to services such as artificial tanning or solarium.
Establishments providing such services began to appear in our country, and the pace has grown significantly. Today the average consumer knows that there are tanning salons, but not much is known about the essence of how indoor or artificial tanning is born. Lack of information leads to the emergence of a number of myths, sometimes ridiculous, sometimes even scary, which we are going to debunk.
Sunbathing in solariums is harmful. On the contrary, it is better to sunbathe in a solarium than under natural light. First of all, what is a tan? This is the protection of the body from the effects of ultraviolet radiation. This radiation is divided into three components - UV-A, UV-B, UV-C. The last of them, the most harmful to humans, but under natural conditions is retained by the ozone layer. In tanning salons, powerful filters are installed to extinguish this type of radiation. UV-A and UV-B waves are not harmful to humans, in reasonable amounts, of course. Moreover, sunbathing on the beach, a person cannot control the amount of radiation received and the proportion of waves. As a result, shoulders smeared with sour cream and a burnt nose hidden under the hat. But in a solarium, this is impossible in principle, because trained specialists will help you to choose the right frequency of sessions and their intensity. And aesthetically, such a tan is much better - there are no stains from a swimsuit, no sand in different secluded places. The tan is safe, even and faster.
Solarium services are expensive. In fact, things are not so bad. First of all, tanning salons differ in price, because they have different capacities. In a powerful solarium, the average session duration will be 8-10 minutes, and if it is proposed to undergo a half-hour session, then you should know that the device has low power, and it is morally outdated. The average price for the services of devices of well-known brands reaches $ 0.5 per minute. And the exact cost of the session is calculated, as well as the full tanning cycle, already on the type of skin. This is discussed individually with a consultant. And giving a certain amount for fashionable and high-quality clothes and accessories, is it really impossible to allocate part of the amount for a tan? After all, such a decoration will give its owner a beautiful and healthy look throughout the day.
All tanning salons are the same. Tanning salons differ, and not only in their design, staffing or location. It is much more important who is the manufacturer of the devices, how worn out the lamps and filters are, how the disinfection is performed in the booths and what is the selection of the devices in terms of power. Immediately, we will identify the three trusted manufacturers - MegaSun, Ergoline and UWE. Their devices differ both in their specificity (vertical and horizontal, for the neckline and face), and in the power and number of lamps. For primary tanning, less powerful equipment is used, and then the power increases. When choosing a solarium, it is advisable to choose one that is equipped with a recently purchased apparatus. In non-specialized institutions, however, they are often content with equipment that has already worked for a certain period of time. That is why experts recommend visiting specialized tanning salons, in which tanning is the main activity. Such studios are self-sufficient. Large metropolitan cities usually even have a network of solariums, each studio stores data about customers, about their cumulative discounts. Naturally, the equipment in such places is the most modern.
There is no need to use tanning products when going to the solarium. Such an investment of money will pay off. After all, the main function of tanning cosmetics is protective. Not all of these products are for the beach. Some of it is used before tanning, and some after. Such products can be of different consistencies (emulsions, creams, lotions), can perform different functions (cool, cause a rush of blood for a better tan, accelerate the effect with the help of bronzers, give the skin different shades), and the price can vary significantly, depending on manufacturer and brand awareness. The most famous brands in this area are Caribbean Gold, Swedish Beaty and Australian Gold.
Although there is no harm from a solarium, there is no benefit either. A solarium is not a luxury at all, but an opportunity to look beautiful at any time a mountain and feel great at the same time. Ultraviolet UV-B radiation helps to form vitamin D3, which is necessary for humans. It is he who suppresses the growth of cancer cells, helps to fight disruptions in metabolism, strengthens the immune system, fights depression and stress. Exposure to UV-A is beneficial for various skin diseases - psoriasis, acne, seborrhea and neurodermatitis. Of course, self-medication, believing that a solarium will certainly help, is not worth it, so it is still worth consulting a doctor first. And when preparing for a trip to warm countries, a solarium will help, as it will help prepare the skin in advance for the unusual tests of ultraviolet light.
Tanning from a tanning bed will quickly disappear. In this aspect, an artificial tan is no different from a natural one - it will last about the same.
Tanning tattoos in tanning beds can fade. Any tattoo will fade over time, only a solarium has nothing to do with it, like sunlight in general. But when tanning in general, remember that red and green ink under the influence of ultraviolet radiation can cause allergic reactions. Naturally, this applies to the sun and tanning lamps.
After a tanning bed in the sun it is no longer possible to burn out. Although a solarium is called an artificial sun, it would be incorrect to call a tan acquired there artificial. After all, the effect is achieved using all the same ultraviolet rays as in nature. So in this regard, tanning is absolutely identical in nature. So there is no protective barrier that will subsequently save you from burning on the beach. So, when going to the sea, do not forget your protective cosmetics.
A solarium is not safe for eyesight. Solarium lamps emit the same radiation as sunlight. There is a visible part, and an invisible part, which includes ultraviolet and infrared light. Excessive radiation does not penetrate the eyes, which are protected by the pupil. As the brightness of sunlight rises, the pupil begins to narrow, thus allowing less visible light and ultraviolet radiation to pass through. In a solarium, the spectrum of light is shifted towards invisible ultraviolet radiation. Thus, the effect of a tanning bed is not in the brightness of the light, but in its properties to give a tan. As a result, by letting in a non-hazardous part of visible light, the pupil also lets in a dangerous part of the invisible spectrum. It is no coincidence that solarium visitors are strongly advised to use eye protection. Otherwise, serious problems may arise - from cuts in the eyes, to deterioration of vision and even its partial loss.
